Potential Of Next-Generation Consoles

Potential Of Next-Generation ConsolesLeading the console pack in the past were the Sony PS3 and Microsoft Xbox360 and developers for both were constantly working on making their games more impressive in terms of graphics. In comparison, the Nintendo WiiPotential Of Next-Generation Consoles didn’t provide gamers with graphics on the same level, but it did offer something arguably more impressive — a different way to interact with games thanks to the innovative Wii controller.

Moreover, even two years later, new and exciting ways to play games on the Nintendo Wii are being announced and developed. ACTIONTRIP took an interview from PhD Graduate Student in Human-Computer Interaction, Johnny Chung Lee, in which he speaks about the still untapped potential of these innovative controllers, he concludes that graphics-oriented games are becoming tiring and not what gamers want.

I think the pixel-pushing race between Microsoft and Sony is becoming less and less effective. The gaming experience will only be marginally better even if the graphics are 100 times more powerful. I personally feel the future of gaming will be in new forms of interaction and immersion. That’s where the bottle neck is. The successful products will be the ones that provide something exciting and new rather than a slightly better version of what was done before.
