Wii Fit In London Science Museum

admin | Nintendo Wii News | Friday, 21 March 2008

Wii FitSince first appearing, Wii Fit immediately grabbed everyone’s attention and the product soon became yet another best selling title produced by Nintendo.

Doctors have even spoken about how it can be used for exercise, but an event is now planned that is unprecedented for any Nintendo Wii game. On 26 March at the London Science Museum, Wii Fit will be previewed from 7.00pm till 9.00pm. The preview will be completely free, but you have to be at least 18 to enter.

However, the event is not just an attempt at staging two hours of entertainment as WiiHa reports.

Thing is, Nintendo’s best-selling exercise title isn’t there for mere entertainment - Wii Fit will actually be part of a series of live tests. Human participants will be asked to play both Wii Fit and a sedentary game while scientists measure the participants’ heart rate and oxygen consumption. The data will then be used to calculate how much energy each participant has burnt.

Nintendo Wii Iron Man Preview

admin | Action | Thursday, 20 March 2008

Iron ManWhile This is ShowBiz reports that Hollywood is already suffering from increased interest in other activities over movies, Iron Man might be the first to suffer. Released in the same week as Grand Theft Auto IV, analysts already suspect that sales of the latter game will affect the box office sales of the former.

But, if you can’t beat them join them, perhaps. Iron Man will not only hit the big screens, but the game of the film will also hit major platforms, including the Nintendo Wii, this spring. Wiifanboy says that three of the voices for the game will be provided by the same actors for the movie, including lead Robert Downey Jr.

Gamespot took a look at an early demo of the game on the Nintendo Wii last year. At that time, controls weren’t finalized, but it does look as though the motion sensitive controller will be used to good effect. Meanwhile, others are just impressed by the trailers.

Mario Kart Wii

admin | Racing | Thursday, 20 March 2008

Mario Kart WiiIf Super Mario Galaxy was the number one game for the Nintendo Wii last year, there might be two in the running for the title in 2008. The first is Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but another surefire hit looks set to be Mario Kart WiiMario Kart Wii. In fact, WiiDs already reports that Amazon.com features the titleMario Kart Wii in its top three products sales. In total, 337,140 copies have already been pre-ordered even though the title will not be released until next month. But is it any good? Well, after playing with a build in the Nintendo office, Gamespot says yes.

So far Mario Kart Wii looks like it’s got all its bases covered and then some. The overall racing experience has the solid gameplay that has given the series its longevity. The addition of bikes and new racers helps freshen things up some. The online features are welcome additions that should ensure the game remains in heavy rotation in people’s Wiis for a good long while. All told, we were pleased by what we saw of Mario Kart Wii. We’re eager to spend some quality time with the various game modes and online features to see how they all pan out.

Perhaps one of the main selling points of the game after the ubiquitous Mario is the plastic steering wheel that will come with the game. Insert a Nintendo Wii controller into the back and you have a wireless wheel with which to drive. Although some may disagree, Gizmodo comments on the reaction of the MTV blog on the device and whether it is better than the normal controller on its own.

My buddy Stephen T over at MTV’s Multiplayer blog scored the first video demo of the Wii Wheel in Mario Kart Wii game play. Melvin at Nintendo shows him how to insert a Wiimote into the Wheel, then head to the races. Watch T manage to execute a wheelie and a powerslide, then—in the second video in the link below—try the same manoeuvring sans Wheel, with far less enthusiasm. He doesn’t say whether or not it’s a true winner or a waste of plastic, but my guess is, he likes it better than this guy. His biggest gripe? No horn to honk, Maggie Simpson style.

Regardless, Mario Kart Wii looks set to break even more records for Nintendo and will be released next month. In the meantime, check out the trailer below and pre-order your copy hereMario Kart Wii.

ObsCure II On Nintendo Wii

admin | Horror, Survival | Tuesday, 18 March 2008

Obscure III’m sure there are a lot of people out there who have played ObsCure, a game released in 2004. Now, a sequel — ObsCure The Aftermath — will not only be released on PC and PS2, but also on the Nintendo WiiObsCure II On Nintendo Wii.

Wii owners tired of family-orientated games will also be pleased to hear that the game is survival horror. According to Wii’s World in the Obscure II strange things will start to happen as soon as characters will deal with a mysterious plant.

The storyline of Obscure 2 takes place two years after the original happenings, the kids who survived are now at college living normal lives. They discover a strange plant on campus and predictably, things start going awry.

The graphics look nice and the in-game music creates a frightening environment which these days is a must for horror games. There are 22 tracks from composer Olivier Deriviere and you can freely download them composer’s official website.

Obscure II The Aftermath will be released this month March.
