EA Announces Skate It On Nintendo Wii

Skate ItThere are many sports-related games for the Nintendo Wii which cover almost every single sporting discipline you can image. Well, maybe not every one. Skateboarding, for example, was one missing, but that’s now all due to change.

Skate It was initially developed only for PS3 and Xbox360, but recently EA Sports announced that Nintendo Wii owners could expect this game with full support of motion-sensitive controllers. Moreover, developers made the effort to bring in and use the balance board as well, something which should definitely make the game even more fun and realistic.

On the PS3 and Xbox360 the game has great physics and graphics and the same engine was used for the Wii version too. Although it doesn’t mean that you can expect the same visuals, it will feature proper functioning physics. IGN interviewed EA.

In order to retain the same great feel and physical accuracy of Skate, the team began by taking the core of the Skate engine and migrating it to the Wii. Most importantly; however, we’ve been able to bring our physics based skating, animation, camera, and award winning audio engines over to the Wii. Built around that foundation is all-new technology specific to the Wii - not the least of which is an intuitive way of controlling your skater built around the Wii Remote.

Skate It will be available in coming weeks. For now, enjoy the trailer that demonstrates how the motion-sensitive controllers will work.
