Many people think that the purpose of kids games is to keep children busy and to pass idle time. As a matter of fact, many modern kid games have educational motives. They can teach math skills, vocabulary and language skills. Games build educational skills such as vocabulary, spelling, math, problem-solving, memory, concentration, attention, and reasoning. Apart from this, games have the power to build social skills such as teamwork, cooperation, listening, honesty, and decision-making. On the other hand, games are just fun. There are always those kids games that are passed on verbally, generation to generation, like hide and seek, jacks, hop scotch, or jump rope. There are also games that have become part of our culture through both promotion and tradition, like Chutes and Ladders, Monopoly, or Risk.

Kids are starting to play computer games at younger ages these days. The majority of games made for young gamers are fun and are focused on learning.
