Nintendo Wii: Another Patent DisputeWe recently posted news concerning conflicting claims over the patent to the technology behind the Nintendo WiiNintendo Wii: Another Patent Dispute controller, but we didn’t expect that others would also jump into the fray. However, the Wii blog reports than an ex-employee of Chicago-based Midway Games claims to have come up with the idea of motion-sensitive controllers 10 years ago.

Concerning this Game Trailers.com have even posted video of the ex-employee making the claims.

It has to be said that it does seem strange that all of these claim are appearing now — some 10 years later. Cynics might argue that if they really did invent Nintendo Wii’s innovative controllers then they weren’t forward thinking enough to understand how much money it might bring the company.Of course, it’s also possible that Nintendo took the idea from Midway who took it from their former employee, but anyway, there’s potentially a lot of money at stake.Whatever case, however, if it is true then will Nintendo be in trouble? Let’s hope that whatever the outcome it doesn’t affect gamers and Nintendo WiiNintendo Wii: Another Patent Dispute owners.
